Roslyn Recap

Greetings Supporters of Team Sega and many thanks to SEGA\Gameworks, Therapeutic Associates, Black Diamond Bike and Backcountry, FSA, Rudy Project, Schwable, Nuun, Marzocchi and Ritchey for keeping us rolling. The weather was near perfect for the morning races. Cool temperature, a little wind and the sun was hidden for most of the morning behind the clouds. The wind gradually picked up through out the day which created a fantastic head wind for the racers heading towards the start\finish.

The course started with a short dirt road section to try and get racers situated that lead to a very sharp pitch climb that made me glad my back is still ailing. After the short climb the trail winded around a bit and then started back up at a easier pitch for a mile or so. At the top the trail still had a few steep pitched climbs and some great single track on the way back down. At the bottom there was a very sharp left that sent into fast flowing section that dumped into the dirt road. And a short dirt road ride and back up the hill everyone went. Looked fun, except by the time it heated up for the last race of the day.

A few highlights:
In the beginners group there was some great racing. Jackson Burklund led start to finish in grabbing his first win of the year and securing 1st place for the series overall with one race to go. Aaron finished 11th and is sitting in the top 5 overall. Here is Jackson showing his focus at the start and then heading up the first climb.

Virginia had a great start dropping most on the initial steep climb, but had issues with a section at the top and wrecked pretty severely. She recovered, caught the front runner on the final climb, only to lose her chain in between the cassette and spokes. She was able to recover from the mechanical and still finished 3rd. Here is Virgina pulling away from the field on the steep first climb.

Ann had another great race finishing 6th and is holding onto 3rd overall with Virgina nipping at her heels. Misha was there and looked great racing, but DNF’ed.

In the sport race, Erik decided to get a little extra sleep and race sport. He did great in the 18 and under sport finishing in 3rd place.

Russ had a great race. He looked really fast and came in 3rd and is sitting 2nd overall for the series. The best tale of the day was Russ explaining how some stinking little kid in red passed him on the final climb. Sorry I spawned a demon Russ.

Vince was totally killing the course and competitors only to break his chain on the final climb. He coasted over the finish line in 15th. He is still sitting in 1st overall for the series.

Francisco looked strong also, finished in 12th and is sitting 4th overall for the series.

In the Expert group, there was an Aaron V. sighting. He wrecked hard in one of the middle laps and DNF’ed. It was good to see him out there.

There was also a Jim and Erin sighting. Erin is starting to show and looks great at 4 or so months along. The experts finished as follows along with pics of them handling the steep first climb:

Ron Collins – 5th place

Larry Parfitt – 5th place

Jim Albright – 7th place

Alan Beattie, Jr – 9th place

We have quite a few who will be heading to the series overall podium at the series final race in Greenwater this year. Come on out and cheer them on.
